History Of SAS Airlines

History of SAS Airlines is really very interesting. It begins when for the first time in 1918 when Willie Wulff who is considered as an entrepreneur came in to forces with ship-owner H.N. Andersen to form DDL. DDL is known as Det Danske Luftfartselskab in Danish and it is the plan of an airline which is very old but still it is available. In the competition to the DDL airline another Norwegian airline, DNL (Det Norske Luftfartsrederi), was incorporated but the airline failed just after a year. In the same decade another airline stepped in the aviation industry but it was also failed. Some people also analyzed that most of the airlines that came on the screen in these years in Denmark were mostly failed because of the unwillingness of the people to travel through them. It is also assumed that the aviation industry was a flourishing industry at that time and it was really difficult to insist people for air travelling in such an infant industry. After the failure of the airlines it was though in 1930 that the Scandinavian countries co-operation is very necessary for creating a strong airline. After the Second World War more movement came on the screen when Sweden showed the interest to purchase aircraft from the Americans. Although because of some political reasons the aim was not achieved but still at the mid of 1945 a private airline was formed which was named as Svensk Interkontinental Lufttrafik AB (SILA). After the war the situation was getting stable so the head of the airline decided to buy more aircrafts to expand the services of the airline. Again at the end of the world war the idea of 1930 was reintroduced according to which to increase the links between Scandinavia and the USA the need of Scandinavian Airlines would be there. For the agreement the collaborations of national airlines of Denmark, Norway and Sweden was also necessary. The cooperation of these airlines gave a fruitful result and the movement began for the joint venture. In 1946 the basis of SAS Airlines were laid and for the first time the airline at the commercial level made the first flight August 5, 1946. After that the airline continued its operations as a commercial airline.
