The operations of the company began in 1929 with the flight from Honolulu to Hilo. The name of the company as Inter-Island Airways was very lengthy and in order to simplify the name, it was named as Hawaiian Airlines. The company has always struggled for its progress and up till now it is considered as one of the significant airline in US and the destinations of the company have also increased. Although the company faced the shock of bankruptcy in 2003 but through minimization of the costs of the operations the company was able to regain the position much more quickly.

Services Of Hawaiian Airlines
There are some of the major characteristics of the service of the company which has made it very different from the other airlines like Hawaiian Airlines has never failed any accident or the fatal condition since its creation. Another competitive advantage for the company is its presence in the market which is very old. On the basis of the performance of the company in 2003 to 2006 the company was awarded as one on-time carrier in the United States. Some magazines like Travel + Leisure has also rated the company many times as number one. Moreover, the company has also achieved a number of other awards as well like fewest cancellations etc. The main focus of the airline is on providing the best and the quality in services and for this the company has added many crafts in its operations to make the services nonstop from point to point. This also avoids the discomfort of the customers while they are travelling.
Very recently in the end of the year 2007, to make the airline company further expanded a memorandum has signed in which the company has purchased more airbus of $4.4 billion worth. The deliveries of these planes will be made after the year 2012 but it is also hoped that the operations of the airline will be approved after having the new Airbuses. Although the nonstop flights of the company to London, Singapore, Paris and Hong Kong have made the services of the airline very different from the other airlines but still the company needs a lot of improvements for the expansion of its operations as well. One of the largest Competitors of the company is Aloha Airlines but it has recently shutdown its operations, which has further increased the demand of Hawaiian airlines and the CEO has stressed to buy more planes so that the customers demand can be fulfilled easily. If the company remains successful in attracting the customers of Aloha Airlines after the shutting down of its operations then it can really come under the major US airlines.
